The best Ottawa wedding venues, from behind the decks

I've DJed every room on this page, and this is a ranking from a DJ who has played these rooms. It isn't a list of pretty photos.

It's what I'd tell a friend over a beer: where the dance floor actually ends up, how the room sounds once speeches are done, and which places fill up and stay full.

Short answer: Lago on Dow's Lake and Le Belvédère in Wakefield. Plug and play, a dance floor everyone can see, and staff who run the day like clockwork.

How I rate rooms

I have played weddings in Ottawa for about eight years. These are the rooms I have worked, and I rate what I see from the booth.

Five things get a score out of 5: food, staff, ease of setup, house speakers, and sound and acoustics. Ease of setup includes the space in front of the floor and the room to build one.

Food and staff matter most to couples. Setup and sound matter most to the night, so I rate them too.

These are my opinions from playing the room, not facts. I update them every January. Venues cannot pay to rank or to move up. A missing score means I have not rated that part yet.

My favourites

Le Belvédère in Wakefield and Lago Bar & Grill on Dow's Lake are my top two rooms. Lago is lakeside with two floors, the AV is plug and play, and the owner runs the floor hands-on.

Le Belvédère is the country version. The dance floor sits dead centre, so I can see the whole room from the booth, and the plated dinner lands like clockwork. At my last wedding there, in September 2026, the sunset view was excellent, and the team handled timing and rain changes without me chasing cues.

Temple's Sugar Bush (Lanark) is in my top three. The maple menu is some of the best food I've had at a wedding.

Evermore in Almonte is up high on my list, and Tracy is the reason. She's the day-of coordinator, she runs the day, and she's the GOAT.

What actually makes a room work

A room works when the layout and the sound pull the same way. Here are six things I check at every venue, and the questions I'd ask before you fall for the photos.

Can every table see the floor?

A floor everyone can see fills faster. At Le Belvédère it's dead centre. A floor tucked in a corner makes my job twice as hard.

Where is the bar?

A bar near the floor keeps the energy with the people. At The Marshes Golf Club (Kanata), the floor sits near the bar. For example, Orchard View (Greely) is the opposite, so I watch the bar line before big songs.

Why do hard rooms get loud?

Stone, glass and tile throw sound back, and the Museum of Nature, Riviera and the Tennis Club all do it. The fix is to aim the sound at the floor, because turning it up doesn't help.

Why do upstairs floors get hot?

A full floor upstairs gets hot fast, and Britannia Yacht Club puts the dancing up top. Sweaty is a good sign, so dress for it.

Are the ceremony and party in one room?

Often they aren't, and that means two sound jobs. At Strathmere (North Gower), the ceremony is in the pavilion and the party is inside. At Evermore (Almonte), I run a small separate system for the ceremony and cocktails.

Is there a noise curfew?

Some venues have one, so ask what time the music has to stop. Le Peaches & Cream in the Gatineau Hills has one, so I plan peak dancing before it.

Downtown Ottawa and the core

Downtown Ottawa has the widest mix of wedding rooms in the region, and I've DJed all nine below. The Fairmont Château Laurier is the grand ballroom, and Lago on Dow's Lake is my top pick inside the city.

The Museum of Nature puts cocktail hour inside the whale exhibit. Britannia Yacht Club and the Tennis Club both put the dancing upstairs, where it gets hot.

Lago Bar & Grill

Dow's Lake, central Ottawa

Lago Bar & Grill on Dow's Lake is my top pick inside the city of Ottawa.

Best for: Couples who want a lake view and a team that runs a smooth day.

From the booth: It's lakeside, with two floors. Some days the team runs two weddings at once and stays organized. Most venues that try that are a mess. Lago nails it.

The AV is plug and play. The owner runs the floor hands-on, the bartenders are veterans, and there's a guest shuttle. I played a wedding there in July 2026.

Heads up: Daytime parking can get tricky when a boat is moving out of the dock.

Fairmont Château Laurier

Downtown Ottawa

The Fairmont Château Laurier is the grand old ballroom of downtown Ottawa.

Best for: Couples who want a classic, formal room.

From the booth: I play the main ballroom. The dance floor sits in the centre, and old paintings hang all around. It has real old-money grandeur and a lot of history, and it photographs beautifully. It's a showpiece room.

Canadian Museum of Nature

Downtown Ottawa

The Canadian Museum of Nature is the most unusual room on this list.

Best for: Couples who want cocktail hour inside the whale exhibit.

From the booth: Cocktail hour usually happens inside the whale exhibit, and it makes an unreal backdrop. The loading dock is very easy. Security is professional and tight, which makes sense in a museum, and the staff keep things moving.

The building is grand stone, so sound bounces around. I aim it across the floor instead of at the walls.

Heads up: The stone walls bounce sound back.

Britannia Yacht Club

Ottawa River, west of downtown

Britannia Yacht Club is a great waterfront room on the Ottawa River.

Best for: Couples who want a party on the water.

From the booth: The dance floor is upstairs, and when the room fills up it gets super hot and sweaty. That's a good sign.

Glass and open water bounce sound around, so I walk the room with a mic to check it.

Heads up: The upstairs floor gets very hot, so plan for it.

Sala San Marco

Preston Street, Little Italy

Sala San Marco is a Little Italy banquet centre with more than one hall.

Best for: Couples who want a classic dinner, then dancing.

From the booth: It can run more than one wedding at a time. The rooms hold sound well with no real echo problem, as long as the sub isn't aimed badly. The dinner-then-dance layout works here.

Lord Elgin Hotel

Elgin Street, downtown Ottawa

The Lord Elgin Hotel on Elgin Street is mostly a ceremony room for me.

Best for: Couples who want an elegant ceremony before the party moves on.

From the booth: People usually do the ceremony in one room for about thirty minutes, and then the party moves to a restaurant or another venue. I bring a Bluetooth speaker for it and I'm good to go.

The room can get lively with echoes, so I keep the sound tight and aimed inward.

National Arts Centre

1 Elgin Street, Ottawa

The National Arts Centre is a downtown Ottawa room with floor-to-ceiling city views.

Best for: Couples who want city views and a rooftop terrace for golden-hour photos.

From the booth: I played a wedding here in July 2022. Setup starts at 10 AM and tear down is by 1 AM, so I plan the last song well before then.

West end and the Ottawa Valley

West of the city, the venues turn into barns and estates, and I've DJed all nine below. Temple's Sugar Bush is my favourite for food, and Evermore (Almonte) has one of the prettier outdoor ceremony spots.

Some rooms have barns where the floor moves, and Saunders Farm has a built-in sound system I'd rather not use.

Evermore

Almonte

Evermore in Almonte is one of my favourite rooms, and it has one of the prettier outdoor ceremony spots in the Valley.

Best for: Couples who want an outdoor ceremony and a coordinator who runs the day.

From the booth: The ceremony, the white tent for cocktails and the barn are all steps apart, and the tent is the rain backup. The dance floor never looks empty and fills fast.

Tracy is the day-of coordinator. She runs the day, and she's the GOAT. I was there three times in 2026.

I run a small separate sound system for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Do the first dance in front of the DJ, not outside.

Stonefields Estate

Carleton Place

Stonefields Estate in Carleton Place is the country estate everyone asks about.

Best for: Couples who want a big patio for cocktails and a barn for the party.

From the booth: It earns the attention. The big back patio is where cocktail hour shines, and the barn reception works best with a well-lit floor and smart first songs. I know this room well.

Heads up: Stone rooms build up mud in the low end once the doors close at night.

Temple's Sugar Bush

Lanark

Temple's Sugar Bush in Lanark is one of my top three rooms, and the food is why.

Best for: Couples who care about food.

From the booth: There's maple in every course and a bottle of syrup on every table. The maple menu is some of the best food I've had at a wedding. The ceremony spot is in the forest, with a little DJ hut. Load-in is up the stairs.

Heads up: It gets very hot in summer, so dress for it. On fall dates, ask the venue about frost timing for the outdoor parts of the day.

Bleeks & Bergamot

Ashton

Bleeks & Bergamot in Ashton is a country barn with lots of flowers and greenery.

Best for: Couples who want a barn and a garden.

From the booth: Couples sometimes worry the flowers will soak up the sound. They don't, because the room handles it and the barn floor moves. The sound is totally fine in there, and I don't need any special EQ.

The Marshes Golf Club

Kanata

The Marshes Golf Club in Kanata is an open clubhouse with big windows.

Best for: Couples who want light and high ceilings.

From the booth: The dance floor goes in the dining room, out in the middle to the right, close to the bar. That keeps the energy where the people are.

The Grand Hotel

Carleton Place

The Grand Hotel in Carleton Place is a small English-themed hotel with a vintage feel.

Best for: Couples who like a regal, old-style look.

From the booth: It's a historic building with small-town charm. The party stays together in the main room, and the first ten minutes of open dancing set the tone for the whole night. Vendors call the food the best in town. I played an October 2024 wedding here.

Heads up: The hotel names The Ballroom, The Carleton Room and Smith & Barrel, so ask which spaces and floor plan your booking includes. There are guest rooms on site.

Oak and Pines

Ottawa Valley

Oak and Pines is an estate-style room with a dance floor near the centre.

Best for: Couples who like a room that fills with light.

From the booth: The floor is basically centred, though it can sit centre-front depending on where I set up. The windows help, because energy builds as the light fades. There's always an indoor backup plan for rain.

It's at 3310 Tenth Line Road in Navan, and the hotel is on site.

Aquatopia Water Garden Conservatory

Carp

Aquatopia in Carp is a heated glass conservatory with an atrium and a greenhouse.

Best for: Couples who want a greenhouse wedding under a glass roof.

From the booth: Their house tech runs the sound and lights, so I plan the night with them, not around them. I played a wedding here in June 2025.

South of Ottawa

Strathmere and Orchard View are the two rooms south of the city, and each needs a different sound plan. At Strathmere, the ceremony and the party are in two spaces, and at Orchard View the bar sits far from the floor.

North Gower

Strathmere in North Gower is a country retreat with the ceremony in a pavilion.

Best for: Couples who want an outdoor ceremony and an indoor party.

From the booth: The ceremony is in the pavilion and the dancing happens inside. That's two very different sound jobs in one day, and I plan separate sound for each. I've played the Farmhouse, the Garden House and the Lodge.

Orchard View

Greely

Orchard View in Greely sits on the water and has a room for every size.

Best for: Couples who want a dedicated event room.

From the booth: There are two ceremony spots and a terrace by the water, plus the Lake View and Grand View rooms. The dance floor usually sits in the event room. The staff run it like a machine. I've played it five times or more, and it's a top three venue for me.

Heads up: The bar is far from the floor, so I watch the bar line before big songs to keep the room together.

East of Ottawa

One room on this list sits east of the city, in Prescott-Russell.

Bean Town Receptions

Plantagenet, Prescott-Russell

Bean Town Receptions in Plantagenet is an easy room to fill.

Best for: Couples east of the city who want a stay-over wedding.

From the booth: There's a huge lawn for games, a lovely outdoor ceremony spot and a cozy indoor room, with lodging on site. They do fireworks over the first dance, and it looks like pure cinema. I can drive the van right in, so load-in is easy. I played an August 2025 wedding here.

Gatineau, Wakefield and the Hills

Cross the river and things loosen up. Le Riverbend sits right on the water, and Le Peaches & Cream is a rural place up in the Gatineau Hills. If Lago is the city pick, Le Belvédère is the country one.

Le Belvédère

Wakefield, Quebec

Le Belvédère in Wakefield is one of my two favourite rooms, with Lago.

Best for: Couples who want a country setting and a team that runs the day.

From the booth: The dance floor sits dead centre, so I can see the whole room. The first dance happens outdoors with sparklers for everyone, and the plated dinner is served in sync. The managers are pros, and other vendors love working there.

At my last wedding there, in September 2026, the sunset was excellent and the team handled timing and rain changes without me chasing cues. The house JBL speakers, mic and lighting all work well.

Le Riverbend

Wakefield area

Le Riverbend is one of the prettiest riverside rooms I play.

Best for: Couples who want to be right on the water.

From the booth: It sits right on the water, and the river is the backdrop for the whole day. It's an insane spot.

Château Cartier

Aylmer, Gatineau

Château Cartier in Aylmer is a golf resort on the Ottawa River.

Best for: Couples who like an open, good-looking clubhouse.

From the booth: The clubhouse room is open and good-looking. It isn't built around a dance floor. Load-in is a roll-in: I can drive right in, with no long carry.

Heads up: Floor planning matters more here than in most rooms.

Le Peaches & Cream

Low, in the Gatineau Hills

Le Peaches & Cream in Low is a rural venue in the Gatineau Hills.

Best for: Couples who want a country party in Quebec.

From the booth: They put me in the middle, between the dining room and the front lounge, which pulls energy from both sides and puts the floor in that middle zone.

Heads up: There's a noise curfew, so I plan peak dancing before it.

Small weddings and restaurant rooms in Ottawa

A restaurant makes a good small-wedding room when the guest list is short, and these five all suit a smaller crowd. Gitanes and Sidedoor are the tightest, Riviera is a grand former bank hall, and E18teen plays like a downtown club.

Gitanes

Elgin Street, Centretown

Gitanes is a small, tight room that suits a smaller guest list.

Best for: Small, intimate weddings.

From the booth: Everything is up front, and the bar area becomes its own social spot. It's tight, with fewer people, but it's a decent little space for an intimate wedding. I load in through the front street door.

Riviera

Sparks Street

Riviera on Sparks Street is a grand former bank hall that works for smaller weddings.

Best for: Couples who want a tall, tiled, beautiful room.

From the booth: The room carries low end on its own, so I don't need extra subs. More would be nice, but it isn't a requirement. The trick is keeping the sound on the floor.

Heads up: Glass on the mezzanine can slap the sound back.

Sidedoor

York Street, ByWard Market

Sidedoor on York Street is one of the best small-wedding rooms downtown.

Best for: Small weddings downtown.

From the booth: It's a market courtyard restaurant with a tight space, and the dance floor is in the back room. There's no drive-up. I park on York Street and walk the gear in.

E18teen

ByWard Market

E18teen in the ByWard Market plays like a downtown club.

Best for: Couples who want a club feel in a restaurant.

From the booth: It's in a stone building in the Market. Compact lighting washes the floor without turning a restaurant into a nightclub.

Why Lago and Le Belvédère are my top two

Lago Bar & Grill on Dow's Lake is a lakeside room across two floors, and it is one of my favourite rooms. The AV is plug and play, and the team runs two-wedding days smoothly. The owner runs the floor hands-on, and the venue offers a guest shuttle.

At Le Belvédère (Wakefield), the dance floor sits dead centre, so I can see the whole room. The venue does a signature outdoor first dance with sparklers, and the plated dinner lands like clockwork.

The managers are pros, and other vendors love working there. In September 2026, the sunset view was excellent.

Both rooms give me a centred floor, a quick setup and a team that keeps the day tight, and Le Belvédère and Lago are my top two. The full notes are on my Lago page and my Le Belvédère page.

Rooms that need separate ceremony sound

The ceremony is a separate sound job from the party, so some rooms need two sound plans. At Strathmere (North Gower), the ceremony is in the pavilion and the dancing moves inside. I plan separate sound for each.

At Evermore in Almonte, I run a small separate system for the ceremony and cocktail hour. The main floor setup stays ready for the night.

At Stonefields (Carleton Place), the big back patio carries cocktail hour, and then the room fills for dinner and the floor. Saunders Farm in Munster has a low-quality built-in system, so I work with separate speakers there.

What is the best wedding venue in Ottawa?

Lago Bar & Grill on Dow's Lake and Le Belvédère in Wakefield are my top two. Both have a centred floor and a fast, plug-and-play setup. Pick for your guest count and for whether the ceremony is indoors or out.

What's the difference between Ottawa venues and Gatineau-side venues for a wedding?

I work both sides. Ottawa has the hotels and the Valley estates. Gatineau and the Hills have riverside and rural rooms, including Le Belvédère and Le Riverbend.

How do I choose between two Ottawa wedding venues?

Look at three things: where the floor sits against the bar and the tables, whether the ceremony and the party share a room, and how the room sounds when it's full. My notes above cover those details for each venue.

The Quarry by Beyond the Pale, ByWard Market

I played a wedding at The Quarry in September 2026 and loved it. A brewery taproom right in the ByWard Market makes it feel like a real party the moment guests walk in, and it just feels nice.

Spots like this are hard to book in the middle of wedding season, so move early. The staff were on point and super friendly, and Isaac and Drake were great to work with. If you want something fun and central, this is it.
