Stonefields, from a DJ who's played it.

Stonefields is a 120-acre heritage estate in Beckwith, just outside Carleton Place, and Sean has genuinely loaded in and played it. The property books one wedding a day, so nothing here is shared or squeezed against another event's timeline. A couple gets a real farmhouse roughly 200 years old for getting ready, a choice between an outdoor ceremony near the farmhouse or the indoor Ceremony House, a covered verandah for cocktail hour, and The Loft, the restored barn with a 35-foot cathedral ceiling and exposed beams, for dinner and dancing. From behind the booth that's the whole job: several real buildings instead of one hall, so the ceremony sound has to work outdoors or in a smaller chandelier-lit room depending on what the couple picks, and the reception sound has to fill a tall barn cleanly without turning muddy under all that height.

How a Stonefields day actually flows.

Stonefields moves guests through several real spaces on the property, and each one asks for something different from the DJ. Here's the shape of a typical day.

1
Ceremony
Farmhouse lawn or Ceremony House

A dedicated wireless system for vows, placed for whichever spot the couple picks, main rig dark and silent.

2
Cocktail Hour
The Verandah

Low-key playlist under the Edison lighting while the property spreads out onto the covered patio.

3
Dinner
The Loft

Sound tuned for a 35-foot cathedral ceiling and exposed beams, kept at a lounge level through speeches.

4
Dance Floor
The Loft opens up

Full rig, full lighting - the tall barn's real payoff once tables clear and the crowd is ready.

What Sean brings to a Stonefields wedding.

Sean has genuinely played Stonefields, so this is notes from someone who has already loaded in and run a night at this estate, not a directory listing. Here is what one DJ covers across the day:

Every Stonefields day runs a little differently, especially with the two ceremony options. Rather than guess at the logistics, Sean asks you to walk through your exact run-of-show on the planning call and builds the music and MC cues around it.

Stonefields sits in the Ottawa Valley.

Home base is Ottawa, and the venues near Stonefields are well inside Sean's regular range out west of the city:

Planning a Stonefields wedding? Here's what I know.

What's The Loft like to DJ in?

I set up in The Loft, Stonefields' restored barn with a 35-foot cathedral ceiling and exposed beams. Tall rooms like that carry sound differently than a flat ballroom, so I aim the rig at the dance floor and keep dinner at a lounge level rather than fighting the height with extra volume.

Do you handle both ceremony options, indoor and outdoor?

Yes. Stonefields gives couples a choice between an outdoor ceremony near the farmhouse or the indoor Ceremony House. I bring a dedicated wireless system either way and confirm which one you're using ahead of the day so the ceremony sound is set up right the first time.

How does cocktail hour work on the Verandah?

Cocktail hour runs on Stonefields' covered verandah, and I keep the music low-key there while people relax under the Edison lighting before everyone moves into The Loft for dinner.

Does the one-wedding-a-day setup change your load-in?

Stonefields only books one wedding a day, so I'm not squeezed around another vendor's timeline anywhere on the property. I still load in early and get everything tested well before guests arrive.

Wedding DJ Stonefields FAQ.

Do you DJ weddings at Stonefields Estate?

Yes. Sean is an open-format wedding DJ and MC who covers the outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour and the indoor reception - one DJ, no handoffs, ceremony to last dance at Stonefields.

Have you played Stonefields Estate before?

Yes, Sean has set up and played at Stonefields. Because estates like this often run an outdoor ceremony plus an indoor or covered reception, he plans for that and brings sound he can size up for a larger rural room.

How much does a wedding DJ at Stonefields cost?

It depends on hours, ceremony plus reception, and lighting. Sean gives a real quote on a quick call rather than a vague number up front. You can see typical ranges on the wedding DJ cost page.

Will you tailor the night to our run-of-show?

Every estate wedding runs a little differently, so rather than assume the logistics, Sean asks you to walk through your exact run-of-show on the planning call and builds the music and MC cues around it.

From the booth

Hey, it's Sean. Stonefields in Carleton Place is a beautiful spot, and the big back patio is where the cocktail hour really shines. I plan the flow so the patio carries the cocktail energy while the room is set and ready for everyone to move in for dinner and dancing.

Good questions

How do you keep the ceremony audio clean outside when the lawn is wide open?

I place the speakers low and pointed at the seated guests, not at the fields. A heavy windscreen on the officiant mic is standard, and I stand to the side with a handheld backup if the wind cuts into the wireless signal.

Does a barn reception that big ever feel empty during dinner or early dancing?

I light the floor hard with a warm wash and pick the first three open-dance songs based on the age spread of your room, not a preset list. That pulls the older guests in and gives the floor life before the party set starts.

What changes with your setup because Stonefields is out in the country?

I load in earlier and carry a heavy-duty hand truck because the path from the vehicle to the barn is long, often gravel, and I would rather be calm and cued than sweating through a timeline. I also bring a clean power conditioner because rural circuits can be less predictable.

I roll a little low-end out of the master signal once the barn doors close at night, cutting mud that the stone can create, but I leave enough warmth so the kick drum still hits in the back corners.
