The Bleeks & Bergamot barn, from a DJ who's played it.

Bleeks & Bergamot runs out of a working farm property in Ashton, just outside Richmond and about 30 minutes west of downtown Ottawa. Sean has played the Homestead side of the property: a five-thousand-square-foot white stone courtyard framed by mature maples, a century-old dairy barn used as the ceremony backdrop, and a cocktail building whose five sets of double sliding barn doors open straight onto that courtyard. From a DJ's chair, a property like this is really four small spaces stitched together rather than one hall, so the plan has to move with the couple - courtyard to barn doors to the Quonset dining room - instead of setting up once and staying put. The venue runs seasonally, open by appointment May through November, so the shift from outdoor daylight to a string-lit evening is part of the read too.

Four real spaces, one property.

Bleeks & Bergamot's Homestead side isn't one room, it's four connected ones. Here's what Sean actually works with.

1
Courtyard
5,000 sq ft · white stone

The ceremony aisle runs sixty feet of charcoal concrete through the courtyard, framed by mature maples and, once the sun goes down, gas fire pits and string lights.

2
Dairy Barn
Ceremony backdrop

A working century-old barn with a white front portico and a black iron chandelier - vows and photos happen right in front of it.

3
Cocktail Building
2,000 sq ft

Five sets of double sliding barn doors open the room onto the courtyard, and it doubles as the indoor ceremony backup on a rain day.

4
The Quonset
2,500 sq ft · seats 120

Dinner runs here on twelve harvest tables and cross-back chairs, seated for up to 120 guests.

Exact guest numbers shift with which spaces you use, so confirm your final headcount with the venue - Sean scales the sound and lighting to your real number.

What Sean brings to a Bleeks & Bergamot wedding.

Every Homestead wedding uses these four spaces a little differently, so on our call walk me through your exact run-of-show - where the ceremony sits, where cocktails happen, and how dinner and dancing land - and I will build the setup around your day rather than guess at it.

Planning a Bleeks & Bergamot wedding? Here's what I know.

What's actually on the property?

The Homestead side is four real spaces: a five-thousand-square-foot white stone courtyard, a century-old dairy barn used as the ceremony backdrop, a cocktail building with sliding barn doors, and the Quonset, which seats up to 120 for dinner. I move sound and mics between them rather than picking one spot and hoping it covers the whole day.

Where does the ceremony happen?

Most Homestead ceremonies walk the sixty-foot charcoal concrete aisle out in the courtyard, with the century-old dairy barn as the backdrop. If it rains, the cocktail building is the indoor backup, and I plan sound for both.

How many guests does the Quonset seat?

The Quonset, the venue's dining room, seats up to 120 guests across twelve harvest tables. Reception numbers can run bigger once the courtyard and cocktail building are counted, so tell me your real headcount on our call and I'll size the sound to it rather than guess.

Is Bleeks & Bergamot open year-round?

No, the Homestead side runs seasonally, open by appointment May through November. That's the country barn-and-garden version I've played and plan around.

Bleeks & Bergamot wedding DJ FAQ.

Do you DJ weddings at Bleeks & Bergamot?

Yes. Sean is an open-format wedding DJ and MC who covers Bleeks & Bergamot in Richmond, just southwest of Ottawa, ceremony to last dance - one DJ, no handoffs.

Have you played Bleeks & Bergamot before?

Yes, Sean has genuinely played this venue. Because it is a country barn-and-garden space, he plans for an outdoor ceremony or cocktail hour and a barn reception, with sound sized to fill the room.

How does an outdoor-to-barn wedding affect the DJ setup?

An outdoor ceremony or cocktail hour and an indoor barn reception usually means two sound positions and a smooth move between them. Sean plans that flow ahead of time so there is no dead air when guests come inside.

Can I send you the exact run-of-show for our day?

Please do. Sean tailors to each room rather than assuming, so on the planning call you can walk him through your exact run-of-show - ceremony spot, cocktail location, indoor-outdoor timing - and he builds the setup around it.

Curious about pricing? Bleeks & Bergamot weddings vary by hours, ceremony plus reception, and lighting, so Sean works in ranges rather than one number - see what a wedding DJ costs for the bands, then check your date for a real quote.

From the booth

Hey, it's Sean. People worry about all the flowers and greenery at Bleeks and Bergamot eating the sound, but honestly it's totally fine, the room handles it and I'm not fighting the EQ. So you get that lush garden look without paying for it in the sound.

Good questions

How do you move the music from the outdoor ceremony to the barn without a gap?

I set up two separate sound systems, one on the lawn for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and a bigger one already running in the barn. When it’s time, I fade the outdoor speakers and turn up the barn, so guests walk into the party already in full swing.

Our families are split between country and club music. Can you keep both sides happy on that wood floor?

Open format is my specialty. I’ll weave a country tune into a house remix, then into classic rock for the uncles, always watching the floor for what lands. You don’t get a dead dancefloor, you get a room where nobody wants to sit down.

What if it’s windy and the ceremony mics pick up noise?

I use directional handheld mics with foam windscreens for outdoor vows, and I keep a backup lav on the officiant. That way your guests hear every word, not a gust of wind.

At Bleeks, I always run cables along the barn baseboards and cover any doorway crossing with a rubber ramp. It keeps the walk clear for your grandmother in heels and avoids the venue flagging a trip hazard mid-party.
