Wedding DJ at Le Belvédère, one DJ for the whole estate.
Looking for a wedding DJ at Le Belvédère? Sean Chi is an open-format wedding DJ and MC who has genuinely played this riverside estate in the Gatineau Hills - a scenic outdoor ceremony, then an indoor reception, covered end to end by one DJ. In Wakefield, Quebec, a short drive north of Ottawa into the Gatineau Hills.
Le Belvédère, from a DJ who's played it.
Le Belvédère is a cliffside estate above Wakefield, about 30 minutes north of Ottawa, and it is exclusive-use - one wedding books the whole property per day, nobody else on site. Most days start on the Cliffside Terrace, an outdoor ceremony spot looking out over the Gatineau Hills, then move into the reception hall, where large windows keep that same view in the room once everyone is inside. It runs from roughly 75 up to 200 guests depending on how you use the space, so the plan changes with your numbers and your layout rather than a fixed hotel-ballroom setup - Sean asks for the real run-of-show on the call instead of assuming one.
How a Le Belvédère day actually moves.
The property gives a wedding a few distinct spots instead of one room, and each one is a different sound job.
Outdoors, overlooking the Gatineau Hills. A dedicated wireless rig for vows, sized for open air.
Lounge seating and an outdoor bar as the light changes. Low-key playlist while the terrace clears.
Big windows keep the hills in view, chandeliers overhead. Sound at a level that keeps toasts clear.
Full rig and lighting once tables clear - the room's payoff once the sun's down.
What Sean brings to a Le Belvédère wedding.
- Ceremony, cocktail hour and reception - one DJ across the whole property, no handoffs between outdoor and indoor.
- Sound built for the space: a dedicated open-air ceremony rig plus a separate system for the reception hall.
- A warm MC for the timeline: grand entrance, speeches, first dance, all cued so the move from terrace to hall lands on time.
- A planning call to build your run-of-show, plus your must-play and do-not-play lists.
- Open format - afro house, Latin, Top 40, whatever your crowd actually dances to once the reception is rolling.

Wakefield, the Gatineau side, and back across the river.
Le Belvédère sits in Wakefield, on the Quebec side in the Gatineau Hills, a short drive north of downtown Ottawa. It is a regular drive for Sean, and a Le Belvédère wedding pairs naturally with the rest of his Quebec-side work - if you are weighing venues across the river, his Gatineau page covers that area in more detail. Wherever your day lands, it is one DJ for the ceremony, the cocktail hour and the reception.
Couples, on the record.
"Sean killed it at our wedding. He understood exactly the vibe we were after and kept the floor going all night."
"Sean did an amazing job, engaged all our guests with oldies and newer music, and there was never an empty dance floor."
Planning a Le Belvédère wedding? Here's what I know.
How many guests does Le Belvédère hold?
It runs from about 75 up to 200 guests across roughly 8,000 sq ft of event space, and it's exclusive-use - only one wedding books the property per day. I scale the sound and lighting to your real headcount rather than a flat package.
Where does the ceremony actually happen?
Most couples get married on the Cliffside Terrace, outdoors, overlooking the Gatineau Hills. The reception hall's big windows keep that same view in the room, so I bring a dedicated ceremony rig for outside and the main system for the hall, not one system trying to do both.
Can our wedding party stay on site?
Yes. The Garden House is there for getting ready the morning of, and the Guest House has three suites that sleep up to eight overnight. The Wakefield Grand nearby adds another 28 spots with a shuttle back to the venue, so I'm not the only one who needs a clean plan for who's where and when.
What's the deal with the building itself?
Le Belvédère was built to Passive House standard - it's aiming to be one of the largest certified Passive House buildings in North America. Practically, that means it's unusually airtight and well insulated, which is good news for a wedding: less sound bleeding outside, less outside noise creeping into the vows.
Le Belvédère wedding DJ FAQ.
Do you DJ weddings at Le Belvédère?
Yes. Sean DJs and MCs weddings at Le Belvédère in Wakefield, Quebec - ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, one DJ across the whole estate so there are no handoffs between the outdoor and indoor parts of your day.
Have you played Le Belvédère before?
Yes - Sean has genuinely played weddings at Le Belvédère. It is a riverside estate in the Gatineau Hills, so the day usually flows from a scenic outdoor ceremony to an indoor reception, and he plans the set and the gear around that transition rather than a single fixed room.
Is Le Belvédère far from Ottawa for a DJ?
No. Le Belvédère is in Wakefield, a short drive north of Ottawa into the Gatineau Hills. It is a regular drive for Sean - Wakefield and the wider Gatineau side are part of his normal coverage.
How do you handle the outdoor ceremony and indoor reception at Le Belvédère?
Because the ceremony and the dance floor are usually in different spots, Sean covers the ceremony space and the reception space and manages the move between them. On the planning call he asks for your exact run-of-show, since he tailors the sound and timing to each room rather than assuming a layout.
What does a wedding DJ at Le Belvédère cost?
It depends on hours, whether you want ceremony plus reception, and lighting. Sean gives a real quote on a quick call once he knows the shape of your day - see the wedding DJ cost guide for the ranges before you reach out.
One honest note: every couple uses this estate differently, so rather than guess at the logistics, bring your exact run-of-show to the call - where the ceremony, dinner and dancing land - and Sean tailors the sound and timeline to your version of the room.

From the booth
Hey, it's Sean. Belvedere is one of my two favourite rooms in the whole region, full stop. The dance floor sits dead centre every time, so from the booth I can see the entire room and read it all night. They do a signature outdoor first dance where everyone holds sparklers, and they run synchronized plated service that lands like clockwork. The managers are pros and the whole vendor community loves working there, because the team is that organized.
Good questions
Do you bring two completely different sound systems for outside and inside?
Yes. The ceremony rig is compact and voiced for speech, placed close to the guests so it does not fight the wind. Inside, I run a proper dance-floor setup with enough headroom to fill the room without being harsh.
What happens if we want music during cocktail hour while you move the gear?
I use a portable battery speaker that I set out before the ceremony. It plays a curated cocktail mix while I move the main system, so there is no silence.
How early do you arrive to set up two separate locations?
I am usually on site a few hours before the ceremony. I sound-check the outdoor setup first, then build the indoor rig, leaving myself a comfortable window to change and be ready before guests arrive.
I always place the ceremony speakers on the guest side of the arch, not behind the couple. If the speakers are behind you, the sound bounces off your backs and turns muddy on any recording.
