The cost depends on your day, so I quote each wedding on its own, and the MC is included at no separate price. Dinner and dancing is one level of coverage and ceremony through last dance is the other. Your hours, whether the ceremony needs its own sound and the venue size move it most.
When you compare quotes, compare the same hours, sound, MC duties and travel. A 50% deposit holds the date and the quoted price, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding. Uplighting is an add-on, a photo booth is quoted on request, and a short call confirms your exact quote.
What every booking includes
Every quote covers the same core, so you can compare like with like. I DJ and MC the night, I bring sound sized to your room, and the planning is part of it. At plug-and-play venues like Lago and Le Belvédère, I connect to the house system, which keeps setup fast and the sound clean.

- A backup setup of laptop, mixer, speaker, mics and cables comes to every wedding.
- Planning
- A planning call, your must-play and do-not-play lists, and a written run sheet for the night.
- Ceremony
- Ceremony sound and a wireless mic for vows and readings when your quote covers the ceremony.
- Travel
- Ottawa, Gatineau and the valley are home turf. Farther out, travel is built into your quote.
What changes the quote
Your quote moves with seven things. They are in order below, biggest first. The bars show relative size, not dollars. Your call sets the real number.
A reception-only night costs less than a full day that opens with the ceremony and carries through cocktail hour.
A 60-guest loft and a 200-guest ballroom need different sound to fill the room cleanly. A separate ceremony space often needs its own sound and a wireless mic for vows and readings.

How much does a wedding DJ cost in Ottawa?
It depends on your day, so I quote each wedding on its own. Your date, venue, hours and how much of the day is covered set the price. Ceremony sound, MC duties, lighting and travel shape it too. Share your date and venue and I will prepare a written quote.
What's included in the price, and is the MC part of it?
Yes, the MC is included, with no separate line item. I keep the grand entrance, dinner announcements, speeches, cake cutting and first dance warm and brief while reading the floor. If a friend or relative handles the mic, I build their run sheet and cue from the booth.
Do uplighting and a photo booth cost extra?
Yes, uplighting is an add-on, and it shows on your written quote. I quote a photo booth on request once I know your venue and guest count. Your written quote lists exactly what is included before you book, so there are no surprises.
How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?
The usual deposit is 50%, and you pay however works for you. It holds your date and your quoted price, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding. Life happens, talk to me and we sort it out. Full terms are in your contract.
Is a DJ cheaper than a wedding band?
A band hires multiple musicians and usually plays sets with breaks; I can provide continuous music. Ask each quote to specify hours, sound, MC duties and travel. Choose a band if live instruments matter most, or a DJ if you want continuous music.
Is it worth paying more for an experienced DJ?
Experience helps with a mixed crowd, room changes and timeline adjustments. I suggest checking real events and reviews, then asking how the DJ prepares. Ask how they handle a quiet floor, a late dinner or a room change. Compare preparation and coverage alongside price.
Where are you based, and do you do destination weddings?
I work between Ottawa and Medellín and take destination weddings. I play open-format music including Latin, Top 40, house and afro house. Tell me the city and the date and I will tell you if I am free. The quote confirms the MC coverage, sound and agreed lighting.
