Who Sean is.
Sean Chi is an open-format DJ and MC. He has eight years of experience, from premier Ottawa nightclub residencies to rooftop sets in Medellín. On a wedding he is one contact for the whole night: DJ, MC, sound and lighting, not a handoff between separate vendors.
Where and when.
Sean is based in Ottawa. He covers Ottawa and the Outaouais region from June to October. He moves to Medellín, Colombia from October to May and plays events there. He also takes destination weddings within about two hours of Ottawa.
What is included.
A wedding booking includes an open-format DJ, a warm MC, premium sound sized to the venue, and dancefloor lighting. It includes a planning call to build the timeline and lock the music, plus a must-play and do-not-play list. Photo booth, 360 booth and uplighting are available as add-ons, quoted once Sean knows the venue and guest count.
How Sean plays.
Eight years reading rooms, keeping the floor full. Open-format, built for mixed crowds, and dialed to whatever the room wants, moment to moment. Tech house and afro house sit at the core, open-format on top, with a feel for exactly when the floor needs to lift.
- Sound effects in transitions: almost never, light filtering only.
- Remixes: subtle over heavy, always higher energy than the original, never lower.
- Songs past their welcome: one chorus, one verse, next. A real sing-along runs top to bottom.
Requests policy.
Guests can send song requests live from the floor. Sean takes requests and weighs them against the couple's must-play and do-not-play lists. If a request clashes with the plan, he politely sidesteps it and stays on course.
Payment terms.
A 50% deposit locks the date and the quoted price. The deposit is non-refundable, because holding the date turns away other bookings for it. The remaining 50% is due before the event, typically two weeks out. Interac e-Transfer to [email protected] is the standard payment method. Invoices are self-numbered and include HST where applicable.
Languages, honestly.
Sean's sets are open-format and built for mixed crowds. He reads the room and blends English, Spanish and other music into the night based on the guest list. He is not a bilingual MC. If a specific language need matters for your day, say so on the planning call.
Price ranges.
Ottawa wedding DJ pricing with Sean runs from about $1,250 to $2,800, depending on coverage. A dance-floor-only set runs $1,450 to $1,750. A full reception with DJ, MC, sound and lighting runs $1,750 to $2,200. A full day from ceremony to last dance runs $2,200 to $2,800. Uplighting adds about $250.
