Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market is a Hyatt hotel at 325 Dalhousie Street, downtown Ottawa, ON. I keep the main setup on the second floor through the last dance and use separate sound upstairs. Guests stay in the same building without a shuttle between spaces.
The banquet desk and the 16th-floor lounge
The hotel's banquet desk is the first stop for every Andaz plan, and I coordinate with the desk before the wedding. I DJ'd and MC'd a full wedding here in August 2026.
That wedding had its ceremony and reception on the second floor and cocktail hour at Copper Spirits and Sights, the lounge and terrace on the 16th floor. The skyline view gives guests a place for photographs.
Guests stay in one building without a shuttle between spaces, so I plan cocktails upstairs and dinner on the second floor as one continuous timeline. The second-floor setup stays in place while guests visit the lounge.
The partitioned second floor and the terrace
The second floor is the main room at the Andaz. A partition closes off part of the floor for the ceremony, and the officiant uses a wireless handheld microphone for the vows.
For the reception, the whole floor opens up, and one main setup covers dinner and speeches first, then dancing once the tables clear. The 16th-floor lounge and terrace run on a separate speaker, so the second-floor setup stays in place during cocktail hour.
I keep the main setup on the second floor from the vows through the last dance, so there is no equipment move between the ceremony and the reception.
Music, mics and room transitions
My early set is the clean-music set, built for a mixed-age room. From there I build the energy and take live requests as the night goes on. As MC, I announce the grand entrance, speeches and dances.
Before the wedding, we confirm ceremony microphones, the weather backup, installed dance-floor lighting, arrival and departure transport, shuttle timing, the first dance and the room transitions.
