The room, in one paragraph.
Strathmere is a 200-acre estate south of Ottawa near North Gower, roughly 40 minutes out, dating back to 1825 with a stone Farmhouse built in the 1860s and more than 35 years running as a country retreat and wedding venue. It is not a single room: couples book one of three distinct spaces, the Farmhouse, the Garden House or the restored barn known as the Lodge, each with its own outdoor ceremony spot on the grounds. Sound and power.
Sean's own notes on the Farmhouse confirm it runs a plug-and-play sound setup. The other two rooms play very differently from each other and from the Farmhouse: the Garden House is bright and window-lined, airy rather than heavy, which changes how sound sits in it, while the Lodge's open barn beams and stone fireplaces make it the biggest of the three and the room built to really open up on the dance floor. Because ceremonies happen across 200 acres of open grounds, outdoor sound needs more low end and careful speaker placement than an indoor room, since there are no walls to reflect the energy back - Sean brings a system built for open air rather than treating an outdoor ceremony like an indoor one at lower volume.
Where the floor goes.
Whichever of the three rooms you're in, Sean always puts a small satellite speaker near the bar or the seating area farthest from the main dance floor, so guests who drift off for a drink still feel connected to the party instead of the energy splitting into two rooms.
A timeline that works here.
On at least one Strathmere layout, the ceremony runs out in the pavilion and the reception dancing moves inside. Sean covers the pavilion for the ceremony, then carries the same sound and energy into the indoor floor so the transition from vows to party stays continuous rather than restarting from zero. When the day uses more than one space, whether that is an outdoor ceremony and a separate indoor reception, he treats each space as its own stage but keeps the music continuous so nobody walks into dead air between them, arriving well before the first guest since a real multi-space setup takes an extra hour to wire and test.
Ceremony and cocktail notes.
Each of the three venues has its own outdoor ceremony spot across Strathmere's 200 acres of gardens, including a certified Monarch butterfly waystation, so confirm your exact spot with the venue. On an open lawn ceremony, Sean brings a dedicated wireless system sized for outdoor sound rather than assuming the indoor setup will simply carry outside.
